These Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect no-bake dessert to make with your kids and make it a fun family afternoon. They are healthier than the bought version of rice chocolate, as they don’t have any unnecessary flavors, or additives, and have less refined sugar.
I have two little girls who are enormously picky eaters and big sweet lovers, so I always search for ideas to make desserts they love in a healthier version. They love rice chocolate, so we explored a bit with the ingredients every mom has in the kitchen and made these great more nutritious rice chocolate treats. We had rice snacks, and some dark chocolate chips and started to get creative.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of dark chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp of coconut oil
- 1/4 cup of almond butter, or peanut butter
- 4 rice circle snacks – or 1 oz
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate with butter and coconut oil until smooth. I used the microwave. It is much faster.
- Let your kids chop the rice snacks into small pieces and place them into a blender. Mix until you have desired size of the rice snacks.
- Add the rice to your melted chocolate and mix until well combined.
- Place the mixture in the desired mold, and press hard.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Serve and enjoy these delicious crunch bars with your kids.
Ideas to make creative desserts for your kids
You can get creative when it comes to the shape of your rice chocolate treats. We use heart-shaped ice molds, and snowman silicon shapes to make it more kids appealing and more entertaining. You can place it on a baking sheet and make it very simple, or you can play with it as you like.
Tips and Variations
- You can just chop those rice snacks with your hands. That method works as well. We tried it also, but it didn’t turn out as good as these lovely choco rice snacks.
- For a better result, you can use Puffed Rice Cereals rather than Rice Circle snacks. But we didn’t have those and had a good time chopping them, so we like them as it is. This way you have some great assignments for your little ones to contribute.
